Margaux Payton (She/Her)

Margaux Payton is a staff attorney focused on defending clients from eviction. Margaux graduated from UC Law SF (formerly UC Hastings) in May 2024. Before coming to LAE, she was a 987 Clerk and Post-Bar Law Fellow at the San Francisco Public Defender’s Office, working on felony criminal cases. During law school, she was on the Alternative Dispute Resolution Team and co-chair of the National Lawyers’ Guild in which she brought progressive students together in pursuit of prioritizing people over property in law and policy.
Prior to law school, Margaux worked at Centro Legal de la Raza as an Emergency Rental Assistance Specialist, ensuring people received rental assistance during the COVID-19 pandemic. Prior to that she received a Fulbright research award to research domestic workers’ labor organizing in Mumbai, India.
In her free time, Margaux loves to go hiking and rock climbing.
