Jenny Li is a Client Advocate at Legal Assistance to the Elderly, where she works closely with seniors to improve access to legal services in housing, public benefits and consumer protection. Jenny is a polygot, fluent in English, Mandarin, and Cantonese and proficient in Hakka. She is dedicated to making legal services more accessible for San Francisco’s diverse communities through her language abilities.
Jenny earned her B.A. in Global Studies with a minor in Chinese from the University of California, Santa Barbara. Her previous experience in public benefits advocacy strengthened her commitment to serving underserved communities.
Jenny is an immigrant from China who grew up in Oakland Chinatown, so Jenny understands firsthand the challenges many Chinese immigrants face navigating complex systems in a language they aren’t fluent in. Growing up, she watched many people in her community devote their lives to work, leaving little time or opportunity to learn English. These experiences motivated her to bridge the gap between monolingual Chinese speakers and the legal system.
In her free time, Jenny enjoys exploring San Francisco, San Mateo, and San Jose in search of new matcha cafés and Asian restaurants to rank on Beli.
