Amanda Janks
Amanda is the Financial Security paralegal at Legal Assistance to the Elderly and assists in matters regarding financial elder abuse, foreclosure prevention, and end of life planning. Amanda graduated from the University of California, Berkeley in 2021 with a B.A. in Political Science and International Relations. In her early childhood, she faced eviction multiple times due to her mother’s struggles with mental health and addiction before being taken into the guardianship of her maternal grandparents. Amanda has always felt a deep motivation towards restructuring institutions that systematically fail people like her mother, who died in 2015 after police officers shot her over 20 times. Amanda’s close relationship with her grandparents has imbued her with an understanding of the nuances and realities of aging adults.
In her spare time, Amanda can be found experimenting in the kitchen, listening to Bjork, and feeding her cat lots of yummy treats.
