Samantha Chu is a Client Advocate on the intake team at Legal Assistance to the Elderly. She assists LAE clients who are facing housing issues, income benefits, consumer debt or elder abuse issues, and also helps prepare end-of-life planning documents such as wills, powers of attorney and advance health care directives for both English and Cantonese speaking clients. Samantha was a solicitor in Hong Kong before joining LAE, and she specialized in family law and estate law in her practice. Samantha now dedicates her time to helping underserved communities in San Francisco and is passionate about advocating for the legal issues faced by the elderly in the city.
Samantha received her B.A. from The University of British Columbia in Canada, her Juris Doctor Degree from The City University of Hong Kong and her Masters in Counselling from Monash University in Australia. She provided counselling to individuals who faced mental health issues and employment issues in her student work placements. Some of Samantha’s favorite activities include traveling, hiking, spinning and caring for her houseplants.
