Grants Manager

Kitania Folk

As the Grants Manager, Kitania compiles and sends all of LAE’s private and city grant reports, researches and writes city and private grant proposals, and manages client data and stats. Previously she worked at a small foundation called The Hawkins Project that funds and organizes projects for youth writing centers across the world that use the same model as 826 Valencia in San Francisco. While working there she was the Managing Editor of Unnecessarily Beautiful Spaces for Young Minds on Fire, a photo-centric book about youth writing centers around the world that featured an introduction by Dave Eggers and Amanda Uhle.

Kitania grew up in San Francisco and attended NYU’s Gallatin School of Individualized Study. During that time, she wrote a thesis that received honors about the 2006 teachers movement in Oaxaca, Mexico.
