LAE-FAVU Collaboration Wins 2021 n4a Award

LAE-FAVU Collaboration Wins 2021 n4a Award

In July of this year, the LAE-FAVU Collaboration received the 2021 Aging Achievement Award from the National Association of Area Agencies on Aging (n4a). This project is a collaboration between the Adult Protective Service’s Financial Abuse Virtual Unit (FAVU) and LAE to better meet the needs of older adults experiencing financial abuse. LAE provides consultation on the investigation of financial elder abuse and provided representation for cross-over legal issues, including for victims of abuse. Last year FAVU and LAE regularly met with representatives from the SFPD to review over 200 cases, evaluating them for criminal prosecution or civil legal action and social service intervention.

A huge congrats to Staff Attorney Darren Orr and Director of Litigation Tom Drohan for the recognition of their tireless work to defend vulnerable seniors through this partnership.
